An act to amend Sections 8208, 8236.2, 8263, 8273, and 8450 of, and to add Sections 8209.2 and 8263.5 to, the Education Code, relating to early childhood education.

AI Summary

This bill would extend eligibility for state-subsidized childcare and development services to families where a member has been certified as fully eligible for CalFresh or Medi-Cal benefits. The bill would allow parents to provide documentation of their enrollment in these programs instead of additional income verification, and would authorize contractors to waive family fees for families receiving services only through distance learning. The bill would also require the state Department of Education to allow contractors to provide services to children from 0 to 12 years of age in "commingled classrooms" during the 2020-21 fiscal year, and to arrange for interagency adjustments between different childcare contracts to promote full utilization of funds.
