This bill makes several key changes to California's law on accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and junior accessory dwelling units (JADUs): 1. It changes requirements around utility connections and fees for ADUs, limiting the ability of local agencies, special districts, and water corporations to impose new or separate connections and related charges. 7. It requires the Department of Housing and Community Development to review local ADU ordinances for compliance with state law. The bill is intended to further facilitate the construction of ADUs and JADUs in California by reducing local barriers and requirements.
