This bill allows disabled veterans (veterans) and Purple Heart recipients (recipients) to be exempt from paying municipal parking meter fees when their vehicle displays a special license plate or placard issued by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, regardless of the vehicle's ownership. The exemption applies when the veteran or recipient is the driver or a passenger in the vehicle, but does not apply when the vehicle is parked for more than 24 hours at one location where a fee is required. The bill also directs the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission to issue placards for veterans and recipients.
