AI Summary

This bill proposes to establish a state minimum wage in South Carolina, gradually increasing it to $12 per hour over a three-year period from 2020 to 2022. It also provides a method for calculating future mandatory adjustments to the minimum wage based on the Consumer Price Index. The bill makes it unlawful for employers to fail to pay the state minimum wage or to retaliate against employees for enforcing the minimum wage law. It allows employees to bring civil actions against employers for violations and provides for remedies, including back pay, damages, and attorney's fees.
