This bill gives state DOTs the flexibility to use Highway Safety Improvement Program Dollars (HSIP) as the “local match” under the Transportation Alternatives program (TAP)

This was the precursor to the Magnus White and Safer Streets Act. I'm leaving it in b.c there were more cosponsors on this one.

The bill would require states to direct a portion of their federal highway funding toward the creation of a Complete Streets Program. The bill would also require that future construction projects on public roads are designed for the safety of all its road users.

The bill would reduce the non-federal cost share for states that hire a full-time Safe Routes to School coordinator from the current 20 percent for TAP down to just 5 percent.

This bill posthumously awards Major Taylor the highest civilian honor bestowed by Congress: the Congressional Gold Medal.

This bill focuses on mitigating extreme heat in urban areas by investing in tree canopies and shade infrastructure along transit corridors, sidewalks, bus stops, school zones, and underserved neighborhoods.

The B.I.K.E Act directs NHTSA to update their bicycle education curriculum for k-12 schools, and to disseminate the curriculum through State Highway Safety Offices. In addition, the act would clarify that in-school on-bike education is eligible for funding under the section 405 grants
