This bill gives state DOTs the flexibility to use Highway Safety Improvement Program Dollars (HSIP) as the “local match” under the Transportation Alternatives program (TAP)

The bill would require states to direct a portion of their federal highway funding toward the creation of a Complete Streets Program. The bill would also require that future construction projects on public roads are designed for the safety of all its road users.

This bill reauthorizes the Safe Streets and Roads for All Program (SS4A) for 5 years. It increases funds to $5 billion/ year, and decreases the percentage allocated for planning grants will be dialed back from 40% to 20%.
