This bill institutes a two-year waiver, starting with the 2015-2016 academic school year, on using student growth data from the TNReady assessment in teacher evaluations for all teachers in Local Education Agencies (LEAs). Additionally, it mandates that the State Board of Education, in collaboration with the Department of Education, will study the TNReady assessment's accuracy and relevance to the curriculum, and by March 1, 2017, and annually thereafter, will submit a written report on these findings to the education committees of the Senate and House of Representatives. The bill also adjusts the weighting of student growth data in teacher evaluations for the 2017-2018 through 2019-2020 school years, gradually increasing its impact from ten percent to twenty percent, with a provision allowing the most recent year's data to count for the full required percentage if it results in a higher evaluation score.
