This bill mandates that food or food products containing or produced with genetically modified material must be clearly labeled as such, defining "genetically modified material" as any part of an organism altered at the molecular or cellular level through non-natural processes, and "produced with a genetically modified material" to include food derived from organisms treated with such material, animals fed such material, or foods containing ingredients that meet these criteria. Violators will face penalties for false labels and misbranding, with exceptions for agricultural producers whose products are unintentionally contaminated, provided they were not negligent. The bill also specifies that the use of manure as fertilizer for raw agricultural commodities will not be considered production with genetically modified material.
