This bill prohibits abortions solely as a means of sex selection. It defines "abortion" and "attempt to perform an abortion," and states that no person shall intentionally perform or attempt to perform an abortion with the knowledge that the pregnant woman is seeking the abortion solely on account of the sex of the unborn child. The bill also provides for license suspension or revocation for physicians who violate this provision, as well as civil damages and injunctive relief. The bill excludes liability for the woman upon whom the abortion is performed and preserves the anonymity of the woman.
