This bill establishes a task force on safety in school transportation to review and promote such safety. The task force will consist of 18 members, including state officials and education and community stakeholders. The task force will study and make recommendations on various aspects of school bus and pedestrian safety, such as reviewing existing laws and programs, examining the need for biannual safety reviews, developing plans to implement safety measures, identifying best practices for school bus stop designations, and determining the need for additional public education programs. The task force will provide a final report with its findings and recommendations by December 31, 2020.
