This bill amends the Public Officers Law to require state agencies and the state legislature to publish on their websites records that are of substantial interest to the public, as long as they have the ability to do so. The bill also provides that these records may be removed from the websites when they are no longer of substantial public interest or have reached the end of their legal retention period. The bill directs the Committee on Open Government to promulgate regulations to implement these new provisions and clarifies that the bill does not limit agencies' ability to publish records on their websites prior to a formal request or frequent requests.
