This bill amends Florida's existing apprenticeship training laws to require the Department of Education (DOE) to provide an annual report to the Legislature and the State Apprenticeship Advisory Council on apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship training in the state. It also requires the DOE to provide information on its website about how educational institutions can assume responsibility for local educational agency requirements for apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs. Additionally, the bill creates the Florida Apprenticeship Grant Program, which allows registered program sponsors who do not receive assistance from career education institutions to apply for grant awards to help fund their apprenticeship programs. Finally, the bill states that if a registered program sponsor receives a grant from the Florida Apprenticeship Grant Program, the DOE shall assume responsibility for the administration and supervision of related and supplemental instruction for apprentices.
