This bill establishes a Latina suicide prevention task force in New York. The task force will consist of seven members appointed by the Governor, legislative leaders, and the Commissioner of Mental Health. The task force will study current mental health and suicide prevention practices, recommend ways to increase their effectiveness, and determine reasons for the high number of Latina suicides in the state. The task force will provide preliminary and final reports to the Governor and legislature with findings, conclusions, recommendations, and proposed legislative actions. The bill will take effect 60 days after becoming law and expire 2 years after the effective date.
