This bill increases the penalties for obstructing or interfering with traffic on trunk highways, airports, or public transit. It creates a new gross misdemeanor offense for intentionally obstructing or disrupting traffic on freeways or public roadways within airport boundaries. Additionally, the bill increases the maximum penalties for unlawfully interfering with the operation of a transit vehicle, making it punishable by up to one year in jail and a $3,000 fine (previously 90 days and $1,000). These provisions are effective August 1, 2020 and apply to crimes committed on or after that date.
