This bill increases the penalties for interfering with or obstructing traffic on a freeway or public roadway within the boundaries of an airport, as well as for unlawfully interfering with the operation of a transit vehicle. Specifically, the bill makes it a gross misdemeanor to interfere with or obstruct traffic on a freeway or airport roadway with the intent to disrupt traffic, and it increases the maximum penalties for unlawfully interfering with a transit operator from 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine to one year in jail and a $3,000 fine. The bill's provisions go into effect on August 1, 2020.
