This bill authorizes the University of Houston-Downtown to charge a wellness and success center fee to its students. The fee can be used to finance, construct, operate, maintain, improve, and equip a wellness and success center, as well as to operate student wellness programs. The fee must be approved by a majority vote of the students and cannot exceed $150 per student for each regular semester, $75 per student for each summer session of eight weeks or longer, or $50 per student for each term of the summer session of less than eight weeks. The revenue from the fee will be deposited into a dedicated account. The board of regents can increase the fee by up to 10% each year without additional student approval.
