This bill authorizes the University of Houston-Downtown to charge a wellness and success center fee to its students. The fee can be used to finance, construct, operate, maintain, improve, and equip a wellness and success center, as well as operate student wellness programs at the university. The fee must be approved by a majority vote of the students enrolled at the university and cannot exceed $150 per student per regular semester, $75 per student per summer session of eight weeks or longer, or $50 per student per summer session of less than eight weeks. The revenue from the fee will be deposited into a dedicated account. The board of regents can increase the fee by up to 10% per year without further student approval, but any increase beyond 10% must be approved by a majority vote of the students.
