This bill amends the social services law to assist persons with medically diagnosed HIV infection. It removes the requirement that the rent cap of 30% of monthly earned or unearned income only applies to social services districts with a population over five million. Additionally, the bill requires local social services districts to assist these individuals in securing documentation, arranging interviews, and providing referrals and information on available resources and services. The bill also directs the Office, in consultation with the Department of Health, to create and maintain a website with information on community-based supports, employment opportunities, and medical professionals specializing in assisting persons with medically diagnosed HIV infection.
