This bill amends the Social Services Law to assist persons with medically diagnosed HIV infection. It removes the requirement that the provisions apply only to social services districts with a population over five million and expands the assistance local districts must provide, including helping secure required documentation, arranging for interviews, and providing referrals and resources. The bill also requires the state Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, in consultation with the Department of Health, to create and maintain information on its website about community-based supports, employment opportunities, and medical professionals specializing in assisting those with HIV infection.
