This bill establishes a local cost-share assistance account within the local road improvement fund. The account is annually appropriated to the commissioner of transportation to provide grants to cities, towns, and counties to help pay the local share of costs for trunk highway projects that have costs related to the trunk highway improvement but are not fully funded by other state and federal funds. The bill also appropriates $100 million from the bond proceeds account in the state transportation fund to the commissioner of transportation to match federal money and replace or rehabilitate local deficient bridges, as well as $100 million for construction and reconstruction of local roads with statewide or regional significance and grants to assist counties with rural road safety capital improvement projects on county state-aid highways.
