This bill amends the Texas Government Code's public information law in several ways. It excludes "protected health information" from public disclosure, defines "temporary custodian" of public information, requires current or former government employees to preserve public information on private devices, and gives the officer for public information additional duties to obtain public information from temporary custodians. The bill also specifies how written requests for public information must be made, requires the Attorney General to create a public information request form, and states that the changes apply only to requests received on or after the effective date of September 1, 2019.
