This bill establishes a Commonwealth divorce task force to examine, evaluate, and analyze the system of divorce in Massachusetts. The task force will make recommendations to improve the efficiency and fairness of the divorce process, as well as to eliminate any adverse impacts on litigants, their children, attorneys, and the probate and family court judges and staff. The task force will consider matters such as prenuptial agreements, mediation, division of assets, child custody, and the duration and efficiency of court and related proceedings. The task force will consist of members appointed by the governor, legislature, attorney general, Massachusetts Bar Association, probate and family court, and other relevant organizations. The task force will submit a report with its findings and recommendations, including any necessary draft legislation, by June 31, 2020.
