This bill amends the education law to allow students enrolled in approved postsecondary education experience or transition programs to receive financial assistance from the tuition assistance program. The bill defines these programs as those that serve students with intellectual disabilities, provide individual supports and services for academic and social inclusion, focus on academic enrichment, socialization, independent living skills, and integrated work experiences, and create a meaningful credential upon completion. The bill also defines "students with intellectual disabilities" as those with an impairment of general intellectual functioning or adaptive behavior that constitutes a substantial handicap to their ability to function normally in society.
