This bill amends the Public Health Law to: 1. Modify the distribution of funds from the general hospital indigent care pool, including increasing the Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) payments to major public general hospitals and eligible general hospitals (other than major public general hospitals). 2. Authorize the Commissioner of Health to make adjustments to Medicaid rates for enhanced safety net hospitals and qualified safety net hospitals to support critically needed health care services and ensure their continued operation. 3. Provide additional Medicaid payments to certain public general hospitals located in New York City, Westchester, Erie, and Nassau counties. The bill aims to support safety net providers, such as community providers, rural general hospitals, and major public general hospitals, and ensure continued access to care for Medicaid and uninsured patients.
