This bill establishes the New York State Muslim American Advisory Council, a group of 10 members appointed by the state government and community organizations. The Council's purpose is to advise the legislature on ways to advance the role and civic participation of Muslim Americans in New York, recommend strategies to better integrate Muslims socially, educationally, culturally, and economically, and facilitate relationship-building in the Muslim community. The Council will meet regularly, present annual reports to the legislature, and focus on issues of significance to New York's Muslim population.
