This bill: Provides that individuals enrolled in certain preapprenticeship programs are deemed to be employees of the state for purposes of receiving certain medical care under workers' compensation coverage. It revises the general duties of the Department of Education with regard to registered apprenticeship and registered preapprenticeship programs, including requiring the department to establish uniform minimum standards and policies governing these programs. The bill also requires the department to publish an annual report on registered apprenticeship and registered preapprenticeship programs, and provides assistance to district school boards, Florida College System institutions, and local workforce development boards in notifying students, parents, and the community of the availability of these programs. Additionally, the bill amends various statutes related to career education courses, computer science instruction, industry certification funding, and the Florida Pathways to Career Opportunities Grant Program to further support apprenticeship and preapprenticeship programs.
