This bill amends the Workers' Compensation Law to allow employers or carriers to encourage claimants to obtain prescribed medicines from a contracted pharmacy network, but claimants are still able to choose to obtain medicines from any registered in-state pharmacy. The bill also allows pharmacists to dispense medications to claimants outside of the network in certain circumstances, such as when the carrier has refused to pay for the medication or when a monthly reauthorization is denied. The bill sets requirements for pharmacies that dispense medicines in these situations and ensures they will be promptly paid upon approval.
