This bill authorizes a one-year continuation of safe schools aid and increases the safe schools levy limit from $36 to $72 per pupil. The bill appropriates $30 million in state aid for safe schools supplemental aid to be distributed to school districts and charter schools based on their adjusted average daily membership. An additional $7.2 million is appropriated for safe schools supplemental aid to be distributed to intermediate school districts and other cooperative units that provide direct services to students. The proceeds from the increased safe schools levy must be used for various school safety and violence prevention activities.
