This bill proposes to increase the safe schools levy limit from $36 to $72 per adjusted pupil unit, and to provide one-year continuation of safe schools supplemental aid to school districts, intermediate school districts, and other cooperative units for costs associated with school safety activities. The bill also expands the allowable uses of the safe schools levy to include funding for licensed mental health professionals, school climate improvements, and collaborating with external mental health providers. The increased levy and supplemental aid are effective for taxes payable and fiscal year 2021, respectively.
