This bill amends the New York Vehicle and Traffic Law to decrease the minimum required amount of the indemnity bond or insurance policy for common carrier ambulettes, paratransit vehicles, and commuter vans engaged in the business of carrying or transporting passengers for hire, having a seating capacity of not less than eight passengers. The minimum liability is reduced from $1.5 million to $300,000 for bodily injury or death and for injury to or destruction of property in any one accident. The bill also defines the term "commuter van" and specifies that "passenger" means any occupant of the vehicle other than the driver.
