This bill amends the vehicle and traffic law to increase the minimum required amount of the indemnity bond or insurance policy for common carrier ambulettes, paratransit vehicles, and commuter vans engaged in the business of carrying or transporting passengers for hire with a seating capacity of at least eight passengers. Specifically, the bill requires these vehicles to have a bond or insurance policy with a combined single limit of at least $300,000 for bodily injury or death and property damage, up from the previous requirement of $1.5 million.
