This bill, the Gilt Edge Mine Conveyance Act, directs the Secretary of Agriculture to transfer approximately 266 acres of National Forest System land within the Gilt Edge Mine Superfund Boundary to the State of South Dakota, if the State submits an offer to acquire the land at its market value. The bill sets forth the terms and conditions of the land conveyance, including that the conveyance will be subject to valid existing rights and made by quitclaim deed. The proceeds from the sale will be deposited in a specified fund for the exchange of lands and used for the maintenance and improvement of land or administration facilities in the Black Hills National Forest in South Dakota. The bill also exempts the Secretary from providing any covenant or warranty for the conveyed land under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act.
