This bill, the Gilt Edge Mine Conveyance Act, directs the Secretary of Agriculture to transfer approximately 266 acres of National Forest System land within the Gilt Edge Mine Superfund Boundary to the State of South Dakota. If the State submits an offer to acquire the land at its market value, as determined by an appraisal, the Secretary must convey the land to the State. The bill specifies that the conveyance will be subject to valid existing rights and made by quitclaim deed, and the State must pay for the appraisal, survey, and other associated costs. The proceeds from the sale will be deposited in a specified fund for the exchange of lands and used for maintenance and improvement of the Black Hills National Forest in South Dakota. The Secretary is not required to provide any environmental warranty for the land.
