This bill amends Section 14-7-840 of the South Carolina Code to raise the age exemption from jury service from 65 years of age or older to 75 years of age or older. The bill allows persons who are 75 years of age or older to be excused from jury service upon confirming their age to the clerk of court or chief magistrate, but prohibits the jury commissioners from excusing or disqualifying a juror under this section. The bill also requires the clerk of court to maintain a list of persons excused from jury service and the reasons for their excuse.
