This bill amends the Health and Safety Code to prohibit assisted living facilities from employing applicants who fail to indicate in a written statement that they have not been convicted of certain criminal offenses. It also requires assisted living facilities to conduct a name-based criminal history check in each state where an applicant resided during the previous five years before employing them in a permanent position. The bill applies to applications for employment submitted on or after September 1, 2021, when the bill takes effect.
