This bill requires all school districts in New York state to provide instruction in financial management, including topics like budgeting, savings, credit, and investing, for students in grades four through eight. The Commissioner of Education will establish and define the financial management program in regulations, and the Department of Education will make model curriculum and resource materials available. The Commissioner will also provide technical assistance in developing age-appropriate curricula for these courses to help students develop critical financial management skills.
