This bill provides tax credits of up to $2,500 to certain volunteer firefighters, volunteer ambulance workers, and volunteer emergency medical service personnel in New York. The credits are based on the number of consecutive years of "qualifying service," which requires at least one year of membership in good standing with a volunteer department, completion of all required training courses, and certification of attending at least 40% of the department's activities. The bill takes effect immediately.
