This bill amends the Public Health Law to establish that, starting on April 1, 2023 and subject to an appropriation, payment rates for services provided by rural hospitals designated as "critical access hospitals" (a designation under the federal Social Security Act for certain small, rural hospitals) will be set at 101% of the reasonable costs of providing those services. This is intended to help support the financial viability of these rural critical access hospitals.
