This bill amends the Education Law to require all schools in New York to include instruction on the prevention of eating disorders as an integral part of their health education programs for students in grades six through twelve. The purpose of this instruction is to foster and develop healthy self-image and prepare students to live healthy lives. The Commissioner of Education may consult with the Comprehensive Care Centers for Eating Disorders in developing this instruction. The bill will take effect on the first of September next succeeding the date it becomes law, and the necessary rules and regulations for its implementation can be made prior to that date.
