This bill amends the vehicle and traffic law to increase the minimum required amount of the indemnity bond or insurance policy for common carrier ambulettes, paratransit vehicles, and commuter vans that are engaged in the business of carrying or transporting passengers for hire, having a seating capacity of not less than eight passengers. Specifically, the bill increases the combined single limit from at least $500,000 to at least $1.5 million for bodily injury or death to one or more persons, and for injury to or destruction of property in any one accident.
