This bill amends the definition of "floor area" in the Multiple Dwelling Law to specify how certain spaces are counted. Specifically, it states that areas with a floor-to-ceiling height greater than 12 feet will be counted multiple times (up to 5 times for areas over 48 feet), except for the ground floor where the first 20 feet are only counted once. It also includes space used for mechanical equipment over 5% of the total floor area, and open areas under the building, in the definition of "floor area." The bill excludes certain spaces like cellars, attics, and exterior terraces from the floor area calculation.
