This bill amends the tax law to suspend the imposition of the compensating use tax on heating fuels sold during the winter months (December, January, and February) for certain low-income senior citizens. Specifically, the bill exempts from the sales tax receipts from the sale of heating fuels for home use by persons 65 years or older whose income is not more than $500 above the qualifying income for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which provides financial assistance to low-income households for home energy costs.
