This bill amends the New York tax law to suspend the imposition of the compensating use tax on heating fuels sold during the winter months (December, January, and February) for certain low-income senior citizens. Specifically, the bill exempts from the retail sales tax receipts from the sale of heating fuels for home use by persons 65 years or older whose income does not exceed $500 more than the qualifying income level for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, even if they do not qualify for that program.
