This bill increases the penalties for obstructing traffic on trunk highways, airports, or public transit systems in Minnesota. Specifically, it makes it a gross misdemeanor to interfere with or obstruct traffic entering, exiting, or on a freeway or public roadway within airport boundaries, with certain exceptions. The bill also increases the maximum penalties for unlawfully interfering with the operation of a transit vehicle, including by distracting the driver, restricting passenger access, or endangering passengers. The increased penalties would apply to crimes committed on or after August 1, 2021.
