This bill repeals section 171-8.5 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, which established the Koke'e State Park Advisory Council. The Department of Land and Natural Resources has determined that the advisory council has fulfilled its purpose of reviewing and assisting in updating the Koke'e State Park master plan, which was completed in 2014. The advisory council has also not met for over five years. Therefore, the purpose of this bill is to eliminate the Koke'e State Park Advisory Council as part of the state's efforts to reduce expenditures, identify programs of lesser priority, and find cost-saving opportunities in light of the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
