This bill establishes a Latina suicide prevention task force to examine, evaluate, and determine how to improve mental health and suicide prevention for Latina New Yorkers. The task force will be composed of seven members appointed by various state officials and will study current mental health practices, recommend ways to increase the effectiveness of suicide prevention efforts across the state, and determine potential reasons for the high number of Latina suicides. The task force is required to provide preliminary and final reports on its findings, conclusions, recommendations, and activities within 13 and 22 months, respectively, after the bill's effective date.
