This bill proposes to expand the beverage container deposit-redemption system in Vermont. It would include water bottles, wine bottles, and containers for all non-carbonated and carbonated drinks, except for milk, dairy products, and plant-based beverages. The bill would increase the deposit on all beverage containers, except those containing liquor, from five cents to ten cents. It would also require a deposit for all containers containing liquor and increase the handling fee for non-commingled containers from four cents to five cents per container. The bill includes provisions for labeling, commingling agreements, and appropriations to the Agency of Natural Resources for implementation.
