This bill prohibits certain licensed health care professionals, including advanced practice registered nurses, physicians, psychologists, counselors, social workers, and chemical dependency professionals, from engaging in conversion therapy when treating minor patients. Conversion therapy refers to the practice of seeking to change a person's sexual orientation or gender identity. The bill allows health care professionals to provide other types of support and services to minors related to gender transition or identity exploration, as long as they do not attempt to change the individual's sexual orientation or gender identity. The state licensing boards overseeing these health care professionals are required to impose sanctions, such as suspending or revoking licenses, on any professionals who fail to comply with the bill's provisions.
