This bill appropriates $550,000 in fiscal years 2022 and 2023 from the general fund to the Commissioner of Higher Education for transfer to College Possible, a nonprofit organization that provides an intensive curriculum of coaching and support to help low-income students gain admission to and graduate from college. The appropriation must be proportionately allocated between students from Greater Minnesota and the seven-county metropolitan area, and can only be used for programs supporting Minnesota residents attending colleges or universities within the state. College Possible must report annually to the legislative committees with jurisdiction over higher education and K-12 education on the activities funded by the appropriation, including information about program expansion, staffing, partnerships, the number of students served, and community service hours.
