The bill also establishes an affirmative defense for registered sex offenders who are in these areas for legitimate purposes, such as transporting a child they are legally permitted to be with or for work-related reasons. Additionally, the bill includes exemptions for registered sex offenders who established residency near a child safety zone before the order was adopted.
